The Iranian President has announced further enrichment of Uranium as part of their plan to produce more fuel for nuclear power generation. But the US government fears that the enriched Uranium will find its way to manufacture of nuclear weapons which is not good for the entire world.
So it is currently working overnight with all the major powers in the world, including China and Russia, to push for further round of sanctions against Iran. The next round of sanctions proposed by the US could be far more stringent and could aim at forcing Iran back to the negotiating table.
Let us see how US and Iran handle the issue over the coming weeks.

The visiting US President Barack Obama is doing exactly what Chinese and the world want to hear. He has said that China is also a big country and it needs to have good relationship with world majors like US so that it can be helpful for both countries.
This is a marked change from the stand US used to take about China a decade back, when it used to talk in a big brother style. The sharp economic upturn in China in the last decade , coupled with the weak US fundamentals could have been the key trigger for the change of US stance, say political experts.

The Iranians are at it once again. After initially agreeing to send the low enriched uranium to Russia for further processing, and receiving the enriched rods later, the Iranians are now asking for simultaneous exchange of the rods in the Iranian soil at the time of shipment of the low enriched uranium.
This is likely to be unacceptable for the western world, while Iran is well known for taking firm stand on all sensitive issues. Thus we can expect further rift between the western world and Iran in the coming weeks on the nuclear issue.

President Barack Obama says the US “does not seek to contain” China’s rise as a big player on the world stage. “The rise of a strong, prosperous China can be a source of strength for the community of nations,” Mr Obama said in a speech in Japan’s capital, Tokyo.

Better US ties with Beijing do not mean a weakening of relations with US allies in the region, he said.

Describing himself as the first “Pacific” US president, he said the US was committed to the area’s security. Mr Obama is now in Singapore, where he is to attend an Asia-Pacific economic summit. His trade representative Ron Kirk, who is already at the Apec meeting, says the US wants barriers to trade and investment removed to promote an open global trade system.

The opposition leader Abdullah had declared few days back of his withdrawal from the race. That has now made Karzai the undisputed candidate for running the Afghanistan government for the next four years.
Now we need to wait for the crucial decision of Obama on sending more troops to Afghanistan.

Also Iran might put one nuclear site under UN inspection, and all these might help in avoiding next round of UN sanctions against Iran. But how long Iran would remain silent without any provocative act, is a billion dollar question.

The army is also using aerial power to back up the ground force.
The Taleban has so far lost over 200 militants while the army has lost 30 people. The US forces are also zeroing in from the Afghanistan border.

Just five years back, China was totally at the mercy of US markets and now it is the other way round. The Chinese economy has been able to record healthy 8% plus growth every year in the last five years while US was struggling to go beyond 1.5% growth.
The Chinese economy is now adding nearly one million jobs every month whereas US is losing half a million jobs every month. The Chinese dominance on global issues is only set to increase in the coming years, as any global economic recovery would only help it to grow faster and stronger.
