The teens in US are seen typing out more Short messages on their cell phones even while driving, as per an independent study. This has put their lives at risk, and already there have been a handful of accidents caused by mobile phones in US in the last one year.
The US police department is expected to take a stringent view on the issue and might issue revised guidelines for mobile phone usage during driving, shortly.

The Apple computer company got into the tough Mobile phone market only in the year 2007 with the launch of iPhone and nobody expected it to become the leader of the mobile phone market, in just two years.
But that has happened, with Apple becoming the leader in mobile phone market in terms of profitability. Nokia has lost the first slot due to increasing competition in Europe, Japan, China and India, apart from crashing volumes.

Online auction site eBay has settled a lawsuit with the founders of Skype, ending uncertainty over the future of the internet phone company. The case was about whether the software of the site was owned by the founders via their firm, Joltid, or by eBay. In a complicated deal, the founders will drop their lawsuit against eBay and take two seats on the board of Skype. Skype will still be sold to a group of investors for about $2bn (£1.2bn).

Skype’s software lets computer and mobile phone users talk to each other for free and make cut-price calls to mobiles and landlines. The deal, announced by eBay in September, is is expected to be finalised in the fourth quarter of 2009. As a result of the agreement, eBay will keep a 30% stake in Skype rather than the 35% it originally announced.

F1 Electric Car is here

An electric car created by the McLaren F1 ’supercar’ road car designer Gordon Murray has been unveiled. Three prototypes of the T.27 model will be developed over the next 16 months. The manufacturing process, called iStream, has received £9m of investment, half of which came from the government’s Technology Strategy Board. iStream plants can be just one fifth of the size of a conventional car factory, as the cars are not made from stamped steel.

All the parts are designed by computer and welded together rather than being stamped out of metal sheets, explained David Bott, director of innovation platforms at the Technology Strategy Board.

“It’s a very radical approach to manufacturing,” he told the BBC. “Usually you talk about high value, or low carbon, or resource efficient manufacturing – this ticks all those boxes.”

Android Phone from Sony Ericsson

Handset maker SonyEricsson has unveiled its first phone built around Google’s Android operating system. The Xperia X10 has an eight megapixel camera, touch screen, GPS and can use apps from the Android Market or SonyEricsson’s Play Now Arena. The X10, known as Rachel while under development, will go on sale early in the first quarter of 2010. SonyEricsson said it would be the first of a family of Android-based phones that it will launch over next year.
