The Sixth Sense
Remember Tom Cruise in Minority Report? The concept developed by MIT and LG introduced by SixthSense, makes us move directly to this fantasy world. This is a transportable and gestural interface that allows us to use a cellphone through gestures, interacting on any surface.
The SixthSense is formed by a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera that is connected to a mobile. The user bears the projector, the camera and the mirror attached to a pendant. In this way, we can see what we normally see on the mobile screen projected on any surface. So any place used to show the phone’s interface.
Furthermore, the camera recognizes and tracks the user’s gestures. Thus, the camera interprets the movements we make and the results on the interface. The result of this mechanism is science fiction. You can see how it works in the video below.
