The rise of USB 3.0
2600 million USB products can not be wrong, another chipset manufacturer has announced its development plans and their conceptual models for Super Speed USB. Also known as USB 3.0, USB SuperSpeed seems destined to be the future of data exchange and connection for all types of gadgets.
USB 1.0 was limited to 40 Mbits per second, but was strengthened in peripherals such as mouse and keyboard, but needed more for video applications, or external hard drives. Then the USB 2.0 was revealed multiplying by the transfer of the original model up to 480 Mbits per second.
Now there are two standards that are struggling to be born, and also the wireless USB SuperSpeed. Both are experiencing slowdowns in its development due to the global economic situation, but the developers are working for companies able to display new products. This week Snowbush revolted Gennum’s plans and its roadmap to bring the USB 3.0 on motherboards. Remember that the USB 3.0 technology promises speeds of up to 2,400 Mbits per second in both directions simultaneously. The first units could reach the market in mid-2010.
