A computer made from BioPlastics

Two Spaniards have created iUnika, Mini computer that is completely made of bioplastics and can be charged with solar energy. The basic computer hits the market at a price of only 130 Euros. Will be presented on May 13 at the meeting Libre 2009 in Madrid. This is an event organized by the Free Knowledge Foundation (FKF).

The new NETBOOK that weighs only 700 grams, also allows free mobility through GSM connectivity, the global standard for mobile communications.

iUnika incorporates a complete GNU / Linux with more than 5000 programs, an alternative free for all users. The Free Knowledge Foundation has worked in software development to ensure its integrity with regard to the principles of Free Software.

Angel Blazquez, manager of the IT sector, and Paul Machón recognized member of the Free Software community, have been responsible for developing this new ecological NETBOOK. The computer combines software, use of renewable energy and the environment. iUnika can be charged through solar panels that integrates, prolonging battery life and allow independent operation. In addition, the casing is made of bioplastics, which does not increase the level of CO2 to the atmosphere.
