100% on SSD by 2012!

SSD technology is already being used in many laptops to replace hard drives because they consume less energy and are faster. Still, HP believes that there is still a long way to go in developing this technology.

It is increasingly common to see the use of SSD units. In fact, the very few days ago, HP launched its new Mini PC 2140, which presents itself as a major improvement over its first version incorporating a 80 Gb SSD disk, which makes it much more powerful. Still, HP believes that this technology has not come far from a perfect and predicts that it will take some years yet until we get an SSD drive totally acceptable.

The main problems of the current SSD drives are linked to performance. Moreover, units that have been developed degrade with use, much more than a normal hard disk, and this makes their life short. This is compounded by the problem of limited capacity that is currently present in these devices.

Even knowing the current limitations of these storage units, the company HP is not willing to let the benefits of this technology, which can store memory is clear even without the computer shutting down. The company is convinced that within a few years we will have the full transition to this type of storage unit.
